How do you think the world and people’s lifestyles will change After the COVID-19 incident?
Before the arrival of vaccine, there would be a distance between countries for a while. Trade, investment and tourism activities were also affected. The domestic economic system, real estate development, urban and social development were also directly affected. Many countries have begun to impose more measures to limit spending and control cash flow within each country. This directly affects the income and foreign capital of Thailand. We therefore need to help promoting domestic activities such as tourism, spending and domestic investment more than ever before so that businesses in all sectors can be driven.

During this time, if we can prepare, improve, and develop the country in various fields, utilize and promote Thailand’s image as a country with health and safety, provide excellent public health management capabilities that are evident in the international level to focus on being a country with good quality of life and good living with completeness in every aspect, these things will benefit the country when going through the COVID -19 period.
How do you think design trends will change after COVID-19?
The mainstream of a sustainable design approach, environmental friendliness to user and residents is still the mainstream in developing more and more things.
For the development of various real estate projects both domestically and internationally in the past before the COVID-19 situation, each development has been increasingly concerned about the health of residents and users for a period of time. The design guidelines standards such as Well Certification emphasizing the importance of quality of life for residents of buildings (Built environment) in Thailand has been more adapted with the emergence of COVID-19 as a catalyst for various sanitation standards, especially those related to transmission. Epidemic pathogens are implemented immediately, such as access procedures for public buildings where temperature is monitored with body cleaning, allocation of usable spaces that increase spacing or dividing into sub-area adding a cleaning routine with alcohol or UVC light.
The trend of design guidelines that is likely to still need some time to develop and study is behavior-related design and people’s activities that have been modified as a result of COVID-19 such as Work from Anywhere, conferencing through communication systems, tourism patterns and behaviors, and creating various living experiences. Many create new “opportunities” that can enhance business, economic, social, cultural development, as well as urban development and national development.
“We view the COVID-19 crisis as a catalyst for improving things in a positive way to create new standards and opportunities.”
The core of the design is to address the context of the COVID-19 era and the subsequent developments that can reduce urban and environmental problems as well as supporting amidst crisis situations or epidemic events possibly occurring in the future.
How important material technology is in designing to deal with epidemic incidents in the future?
It is one of the most important thing because the part that people directly touch is the touch point of technology in Hygienic material, Bacteria Resistance material, Germ Free material, Non VOC material. Alternative material with special hygienic properties will play a greater role. Especially, what people have to experience in the Built Environment will be important. These materials will be selected for more applications.
Get ideas for Design Space for WFH: Work from Home
It is divided into 4 important parts including space allocation, light, good ventilation quality, and greenery.
Adapting different areas for different activities, such as Work from Home, Work from Anywhere, various modifications should take into account the proper placement of the working area, such as correct sitting and working according to the ergonomics. This section is not about having a large area, but having to be an area that has a range of devices and an appropriate area of use. Incorrect sitting directly affects health in the long term.
2. Light
Good light quality directly affects eye health and also affects psychology. Getting good and proper natural light is important. Apart from the brightness that must be sufficient for reading, writing, and computer use, the colour of light received at different times during the day also has direct impact on our psychological health so much that we may not even notice. Arrangement of furniture and workspaces in an area that receives enough natural light is essential.
3. Good ventilation quality
Areas for living, sitting, working and doing various activities should be open and well ventilated with the air circulation from the outside into the inside. If the air that we exhale accumulates in a large amount, it directly affects our body. In order to bring outside air into the building at certain times, air filters may be needed to help reducing PM 2.5 problems, etc. With COVID-19, air filters are even more important.
4. Green
Nature and greenery have positive effect on the quality of living in various dimensions, including adding freshness to the air in the area at the right time. A resting area can reduce eye fatigue. It also has a psychological benefit for living and doing activities. Providing trees of appropriate size and quantity near or in the work area also benefits for health and refreshes the working area.
